Double-tap the back of your iPhone, type the amount and the place, pick a category, and Malii logs it and updates what's safe to spend. Apple Pay logs itself. Back Tap gets the rest.
- 1. Get Malii, free
Installed? Come back here for step 2.
- 2. Get the shortcut
3. Turn on Back Tap
- 1Open Settings › Accessibility › Touch.
- 2Scroll down and tap Back Tap.
- 3Tap Double Tap.
- 4Scroll down and pick Log Expense.
Now just tap tap. Type the amount and the place, pick a category. Done.
If it doesn't work
- Nothing happens: check Back Tap › Double Tap is set to Log Expense, that Malii is up to date, and that you installed Malii before adding the shortcut
- It goes off in your pocket: use Triple Tap instead
- You use it for screenshots: put Screenshot on Triple Tap and Malii on Double Tap
- “No account set up”: open Malii and add an account
- The shortcut won't open: open this page in Safari, then tap Get the shortcut
Frequently asked questions
Which iPhones does it work on?
Any iPhone on iOS 18.6 or later (iPhone XS / XR and newer). That's what Malii needs.
Do I have to open Malii?
No. The shortcut runs in the background and your widget updates on its own.
Can't Apple Pay do this by itself?
Yes, for card payments: set up one Shortcuts automation once. Back Tap is for cash and transfers.
Why not Siri or the widget?
Those work too, all free. Back Tap is the quickest way in: no app to find.
Is it free?
Yes. Shortcuts, Siri and widgets are on Malii's free plan.
Does it see my bank?
No. Malii never connects to your bank. You type the amount, or Apple Pay logs it through a Shortcut.
